Magnitude 3.7 Earthquake Rattles Kern County
RIDGECREST, Kern County (CBS SF) — An earthquake registering a preliminary magnitude of 3.7 struck an area in the lower Central Valley on Monday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey's automated seismograph alert network.
The quake occurred at 4:35 a.m. PDT at a depth of 4.3 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was centered in the Kern County town of Ridgecrest, 60 miles north-northwest of Barstow and 112 miles east-northeast of Bakersfield.
