Lone Gray Wolf Spotted In Northern California

SISKIYOU COUNTY (CBS SF) -- Wildlife biologists believe they have spotted a lone gray wolf in Northern California's Siskiyou County.

Several cameras captured an image of the wolf last May.

If confirmed, it would be the first gray wolf sighting in over a year.

The gray wolf is on California's Endangered Species List. Canis lupus was hunted to extinction in the 1920s. Ranchers considered them a threat to livestock.

According to officials at California Fish and Wildlife, Gray wolves pose little direct risk to humans.
