Livermore Woman Marking 50th Birthday With TAB Soda Can-Shaped Fantasy Coffin

LIVERMORE (CBS SF) -- A Pleasanton woman will mark her 50th birthday with a macabre gift in the form of a fantasy coffin.

Lisa Barton's brothers Steve and John commissioned famous Ghanaian artist Paa Joe to create a coffin in the shape of a TAB soda can for their sister's birthday celebration.

Macabre gifts seem to be a tradition for the family, who have given a tombstone, urn, and funeral bouquet for significant birthdays.

The coffin will be revealed in Livermore on August 23rd.

Fantasy coffins are a tribal tradition in coastal Ghana, where funerals are a time of mourning and celebration of the way loved ones lived.
