Livermore Police And Firefighters Rescue 6-Year-Old's Christmas

LIVERMORE (CBS-SF) – Firefighters and police officers in Livermore have rallied to support a little 6-year-old girl whose mother died on Christmas.

Officials said police and firefighters responded to a report of an unresponsive woman at a Livermore hotel on Christmas afternoon.

The 39-year-old woman had a pre-existing medical condition and had recently moved along with her young daughter to the Bay Area.

The woman was taken to a hospital, where she died leaving her daughter Karma without any relatives in the Bay Area.

After police learned the girl was unable to celebrate Christmas, officers purchased gifts and delivered them to her at a foster care home on Saturday.

Karma will remain in foster care until her grandmother can arrive from Florida.

The Livermore Police Officer's Association as well as the police and fire departments have started a goFundMe account to raise money for the family's funeral expenses.

To donate, well-wishers can go to the goFundMe page.
