Like A Giant Solar Shotgun, Biggest Sunspot In Quarter Century Rotating Toward Earth Again

(CBS SF) -- The biggest sunspot in a quarter century is now rotating toward Earth for the second month in a row, putting all of humanity in its sights for potential releases of radiation.

The active region created six colossal X-class solar flares (the strongest magnitude) in October, and now, it's back.

Sunspots are dark regions where radiation builds before blasting out from the Sun in coronal mass ejections and solar flares.

These releases can disrupt power grids, GPS systems, radio communication, and satellite reception.

It was ten times the size of Earth last month, although it is a bit smaller this month as it rotates back.
