Lights Go Out On The Bay Bridge

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- The Bay Bridge lights were out for several hours Saturday night. Viewers contacted the KPIX newsroom to report the outage.

The lights went out on the western span around 5:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

There were no lights between San Francisco and Yerba Buena Island. Navigation, roadway and aircraft warning lights were not visible. The aircraft warning lights are a federal safety requirement.

The lights went back on around 9:30 p.m.

No word from bridge authorities yet as to why the bridge went dark.
