Late Season Storm May Impact Travel To Sierra

DONNER PASS (CBS/AP) -- A late-season storm is expected to bring more snow to the southern Cascade range and the northern Sierra Nevada.

The National Weather Service says Friday's system could impact travel through Donner and Carson passes and near Lassen National Park. Snow should taper off by late evening.

Forecasters say up to 4 inches of snow will accumulate along Interstate 80 and Highway 50. Higher peaks could get 7 inches to 11 inches and Lassen can expect up to 16 inches.

Elsewhere, the north coast will be showery, and gusty winds are expected in the Sacramento and San Joaquin valleys and across Southern California's mountains and deserts, including Indio, where thousands of people are expected to attend the second weekend of the Coachella music festival.
