Larry Magid: Rumors Abound Surrounding Apple And Tesla

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— An interesting article appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle over the weekend that indicated that leaders with Apple Inc. and Tesla Motors Inc. had a recent face to face.

Not much is known about this meeting, but we can certainly speculate about what each company could offer the other in terms of exciting new technologies.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk was apparently at the meeting with Apple's merger and acquisitions chief, but it's purely rumor so no one should make any hasty investments.

 

As we know, Tesla is an up-and-coming, innovative American car company based in Palo Alto. Their CEO, Musk, also owns SpaceX, a private space company. In many ways he reminds me a lot of the late Steve Jobs.

He's an incredibly daring entrepreneur and he's willing to take risks. They could be a nice match for Apple. Right now Tesla cars essentially have tablets on their dashboards, but the obvious integration here would be to incorporate Apple technologies in their cars.
