Landmark Lights Go Out As Earth Hour Is Observed Around The World

SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX 5) -- Iconic landmarks around the world switched off their lights Saturday to celebrate Earth Hour.

In Europe, the Coliseum in Rome and the Eiffel Tower were in the dark for an hour. In Australia, the lights went down along the Sydney Harbor Bridge.

Earth Hour is intended to raise awareness of climate change and the importance of saving electricity.
