Lady Gaga Stands Up For Kanye West

By Amanda Wicks

(RADIO.COM) – When Kid Cudi's team announced he'd be seeking help for depression and suicidal thoughts, he received sympathy via social media. But when news broke that Kanye West would be hospitalized following the cancellation of his Saint Pablo Tour, the social media response was more of a mixed bag.

Even while artists sent their thoughts and love to the hip-hop and fashion mogul, trolls inevitably crawled out to disparage him. Lady Gaga, who has been a big proponent of mental health, stood up for West. In a series of tweets, she encouraged everyone to be more considerate when dealing with him.

Gaga admitted that she hasn't always agreed with everything West has done in the past, but she warned that joking about or criticizing mental health wasn't a laughing matter. "It's not funny to joke about anyone's possible or not possible mental illness, this is a sensitive time for many," she tweeted. "Let's be kind & loving."

West was hospitalized for exhaustion, but since it followed the rant he delivered at his shortened Sacramento tour stop, many, including Snoop Dogg and John Legend, thought something might be off. He hasn't, however, been diagnosed with any kind of mental illness.

For her last tweet, she directed her words to West himself, sharing ". @kanyewest i support & love u brother, I see in you bravery & courage to stop this tour & take care of YOU. You are a GREAT artist."
