SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - Veteran kicker Phil Dawson says he's returning to the San Francisco 49ers for the 2014 season.

Dawson hit 32 of 36 field goal attempts last season, his first in San Francisco. He also nailed all 44 extra point attempts.
The team also reports that signs point to hard-hitting safety Donte Whitner - who has changed his name to Donte Hitner - leaving to sign a contract with the Browns.
The business side to the league is never fun. Hate to see him go but happy for my man @DonteWhitner Appreciate everything you did for me fam
