KCBS In Depth: Gardening In The Bay Area's Micro-Climates

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— Gardening expert, horticulturist, and author Pam Peirce advises growing tomatoes for some of the Bay Area's hot-spots and that maybe some herbs would be nice for the cooler areas.

Her book, Golden Gate Gardening: The Complete Guide to Year-Round Food Gardening in the San Francisco Bay Area and Coastal California, was first published in 1993 and is now in its third edition. Many consider it the go-to source for gardening success in all the area's micro-climates.

It's not all about food with Peirce, who joined us for this week's In Depth segment. Another of her books, Wildly Successful Plants is about ornamental gardening in Northern California and focuses on 50 Golden State Heirlooms. The gardening guru has tips and insights on her long-time passion.
