iPad Glitch Delays Dozens Of American Airlines Flights

FORT WORTH, Texas (CBS/AP) — More than 50 American Airlines flights have been delayed in the past two days by a glitch in navigation-map software loaded on pilots' iPads.

Airline spokeswoman Andrea Huguely says pilots are having to delete and reinstall the map app.

She says 24 flights were delayed Tuesday night and about 30 on Wednesday.

Since 2013, all of American's pilots have used iPads containing maps, aircraft manuals and other material. For each pilot, the tablets replaced about 35 pounds of paper. American Airlines estimates it save more than $1.2 million in fuel every year.
