Gunman Fires At Taxi In Latest Interstate 80 Shooting

RICHMOND (CBS SF) – An occupied taxicab was shot at on Interstate Highway 80 in Richmond Sunday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The shooting was reported around 8:30 p.m. Sunday. The taxi was headed east on Highway 80 in Richmond when a minivan pulled up alongside and two gunmen opened fire before fleeing the scene.

The driver of the taxi pulled off the highway and stopped at a parking lot, at which time two passengers fled the scene on foot. No injuries were reported, according to the CHP.

There have been at least 17 shootings on East Bay highways since November 2015.

The CHP is asking anyone with more information about the shooting to call their special investigations unit at (510) 622-4609.
