CHP Looking For Driver In I-80 Richmond Fatal Hit-&-Run

RICHMOND (CBS SF) – A man who died early Sunday morning after a hit-and-run on Interstate Highway 80 in Richmond was identified Monday by the Contra Costa County coroner's office as 56-year-old Jeffrey Oishi.

The California Highway Patrol initially received a call at 4:12 a.m. about a collision involving two vehicles on the eastbound lanes of Highway 80 near Carlson Boulevard, CHP officials said.

Officers found Oishi, a Richmond resident, suffering from major injuries in the roadway, according to the CHP. He was taken to a hospital where he died.

Later that day, CHP officials said the officers didn't find any of the vehicles connected to the collision but a red Honda sedan may have been involved in it.

CHP officials were not immediately available Monday morning to confirm that officers are still searching for that vehicle.
