Intense Hunt For Clues In San Jose Police Shooting

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- Investigators were searching for clues Monday that will lead to the identity of a gunman who opened fire on San Jose police over the weekend.

The suspect has been described as a Hispanic male in his 20's, standing six feet tall, and wearing a black and grey Pendleton with a white t-shirt and dark pants.

Police said two foot patrol officers were in the area of Luby Drive and Ripley Drive Sunday night when they spotted a group of males on the street. Instead of heeding the officers order to halt, the men turned and began to flee.

One of the men wheeled around and opened fire on the officers. The officers did not return fire.

Fortunately, neither officers was injured.
