I-880 Lanes Reopen In San Leandro After Fatal Multi-Vehicle Collision

SAN LEANDRO (CBS SF) -- All lanes have reopened in San Leandro on southbound Interstate Highway 880 after a fatal traffic collision late Saturday night near the Interstate Highway 238 interchange according to the CHP.

The California Highway Patrol said the incident was first reported at 11:30 p.m., when a vehicle lost control and hit the center divide and guard rail.

Seven cars were eventually involved in a chain-reaction crash and one person was killed. Another person is in custody under suspicion of drunk driving.

The CHP said the cause of the crash is under investigation.
