Human Remains Found In Gilroy Orchard Not Sierra LaMar

GILROY (CBS SF) – Santa Clara County authorities said human remains found in a Gilroy field are not believed to be missing teen Sierra LaMar, who disappeared nearly four years ago.

According to Sgt. James Jensen of the Santa Clara Co. Sheriff, the human remains found had a gold capped tooth. Sierra did not have any gold teeth.

The remains were discovered in a field across the road from Gavilan College on Wednesday. It is unclear how long the remains have been there.

Sierra disappeared while she was walking on her way to a school bus stop from her Morgan Hill home on March 16, 2012.

Evidence in the case eventually led to the arrest of Antonin Garcia-Torres, who has been charged with the murder and kidnapping of Sierra. The teen's body has not been found.

Garcia-Torres is expected to stand trial later this year.
