'Hot Felon' Released From Northern California Prison

MENDOTA, Fresno County (CBS SF) -- A convicted felon who became nationally known for his handsome mugshot has been released from prison in Fresno County.

Jeremy Meeks became known as the "Hot Felon" after a mugshot posted on the Stockton Police Department's Facebook page in 2014 went viral. The photo even earned Meeks a modeling contract with a Santa Monica-based agency.

Last February, was sentenced to 27 months in prison after being convicted being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was released Tuesday from the Mendota Federal Correctional Institution.

In a post on his Instagram page, Meeks appeared with his talent agent and in the caption thanked his family and supporters, saying he was "overwhelmed and grateful for what lies ahead."
