Hot Bay Area Weather Leads To Fan Shortages, Reduced School Hours
(CBS SF) -- It was a long, hot night for many in the Bay Area without air conditioning, and another warm one is on tap Wednesday as a heat advisory remains in effect.
Residents in San Francisco and Oakland coping with the unrelenting heat Tuesday went scrambling to buy AC units and fans, but were quickly disappointed.
Target, Home Depot, ACE Hardware and Walgreens in Oakland and Emeryville either sold out of fans by 5 p.m. or had already stopped selling them for the season.

Several stories are expecting shipments of fans to arrive Wednesday, but in the meantime people across the Bay Area will be trying to find ways to stay cool.
Gilroy will be the hottest spot with temperatures expected to reach 107 degrees. Redwood City, Oakland and Inland areas will reach highs ranging from 95-107 degrees.
San Francisco will reach a balmy 93 degrees, while Half Moon Bay will be the coolest spot with the mercury stopping at the mid-70s.

A beach hazards statement is also in effect from 8 a.m. Wednesday morning through the evening.
The Campbell Union High School District plans to let students go home at noon on Wednesday and Thursday as a precaution since some classrooms don't have air conditioning.
The district has not made a decision yet weather they'll shorten the school day on Friday.
