Homeless Woman Wielding Tree Branch Arrested For Alleged Attack

SALINAS (CBS SF) -- A woman was arrested Saturday afternoon in Salinas on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, trespassing and violating parole after she tried to attack another woman with a tree branch, police said.

Annette Castillo, 30, and homeless, allegedly attempted to hit another woman with a 30-inch long, 3-inch wide tree branch at about 12:30 p.m. in the 800 block of North Madeira Avenue.

When the victim ran up the stairs to her apartment to escape, Castillo threw the branch at the woman, according to police.

Castillo was said to be upset because she left clothes on the woman's car and the woman moved them before leaving to run errands. When the woman returned from the errands, Castillo was looking for her clothes.

When the woman told Castillo she moved them, Castillo got angry, police said.

Castillo left the area after allegedly throwing the branch. When the victim gave police a description of Castillo, officers were able to locate her at a homeless encampment where the victim identified her as the attacker.
