Homeless Milpitas Man Fatally Shot Near Busy Intersection

MILPITAS (CBS SF) – A man who was killed in a shooting early Thursday morning near a busy Milpitas intersection has been identified as 47-year-old Robert Gutierrez, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.

The victim, who was homeless, was found injured just before 4 a.m. in the 100 block of Dixon Road east of North Milpitas Boulevard where officers responded to a report of gunshots fired, police Sgt. Raj Maharaj said.

Gutierrez was found with a gunshot wound near the Sunnyhills Shopping Center and emergency responders transported him to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, Maharaj said.

No suspects or arrests have been made in the fatal shooting as of Friday morning, Maharaj said.
