Homeless Man Accused Of Fatally Stabbing Teen In Campbell Park

CAMPBELL (CBS SF) -- A homeless man is suspected of killing a teenager during a fight in Campbell on Sunday night, according to police.

Todd Tharp, 24, was arrested after he was found injured at 8:26 p.m. in the area of John D. Morgan Park at 540 W. Rincon Ave., police said.

Tharp appeared to have been in a fight and police learned shortly afterward that a 16-year-old boy had shown up at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center with a stab wound.

The teenage San Jose resident was pronounced dead at 2:55 a.m. Monday, police said.

Authorities told KPIX 5 the teen has been identified as Ivan Diaz Amezcua.

Investigators concluded that Tharp had stabbed the teen during a fight. Tharp was also taken to Valley Medical Center and treated for his injuries, then was booked into jail on suspicion of murder, police said.
