The downed line and live wires have closed down about a half mile stretch of road from Cannery Drive to Amberhill Court, Pittsburg police said in a Twitter post around 4 p.m. The collision happened on N. Parkside Drive.

PG&E crews are on the scene working to repair the damage, but the roadway is closed for an extended amount of time, police said. About 250 PG&E customers were without power Sunday night following the collision.

Immediately after the accident, 6,758 Pittsburg customers lost power, said PG&E spokesman J.D. Guidi. All but the final 14 had power back by 4:30 p.m., Guidi said, and those last ones are expected to be restored by 8:30 p.m. Sunday, he said.

Police did not say if anyone was injured in the collision, but they said the driver of the car that ran into the pole fled, leaving the vehicle on the side of  the road.
