Highway 4 To Close In Both Directions In Antioch For Widening Project

ANTIOCH (CBS SF) -- Starting Monday night, Highway 4 will be closed in both directions in Antioch for work on a project to widen the freeway.

All lanes of Highway 4 will be shut down in both directions between the Hillcrest Avenue on and off-ramps. Caltrans officials said the closures will last through Friday morning, with the westbound lanes set to close daily from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. and the eastbound lanes closing daily from 11:59 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The project aims to widen the freeway from four lanes to eight between Loveridge Road and Highway 160.  Caltrans says once completed, the Highway 4 median will be used to extend BART service from Pittsburg/Bay Point to a new Antioch station at Hillcrest Avenue.
