All Lanes Open On Highway 17 In Santa Cruz Mountains After Closure Due To Fallen Tree, Power Lines

SANTA CRUZ (CBS SF) -- Both northbound and southbound lanes of state Highway 17 in the Santa Cruz Mountains are open Tuesday morning after all lanes were closed because of a downed tree and power lines near Glenwood, California Highway Patrol officials said.

The CHP issued a Sig-Alert at 4:37 a.m. this morning. The lanes remain closed for about three hours.

CHP Officer Jared Diaz told KCBS' Matt Bigler that the fallen tree was blocking the southbound lanes and power lines were spread across both lanes.

"We've got two closures on either side. The southbound side is closed at Summit Road and northbound side is closed at Glenwood Road," he said.

Both Caltrans and Pacific Gas & Electric are at the scene.
