High Surf Warning Through Sunday Issued For Bay Area Beaches

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- The National Weather Service Saturday issued a high surf warning for coastal areas of San Francisco.

The warning is in effect from 7 a.m. Saturday until 9 p.m. Sunday.

A large westerly swell of 16 to 20 feet began to impact the coastline Saturday morning and was expected to last into Sunday and possibly into next week, according to the National Weather Service.

A high surf warning indicates dangerous, battering waves will pound the shoreline, producing dangerous swimming conditions and deadly rip currents.
