Nearly 600 Marijuana Plants Seized In Healdsburg Traffic Stop

HEALDSBURG (CBS SF) – Healdsburg police arrested a Pleasant Hill man early Sunday on suspicion of possession and sale of nearly 600 marijuana plants in his vehicle.

An officer stopped Art Banks' Dodge truck around 1:20 a.m. at the Redwood Highway off-ramp from southbound U.S. Highway 101, Sgt. Hector Altamirano said.

The officer smelled marijuana in the truck and saw several plastic trays with many small plants of marijuana in plain view, Altamirano said.

Police found 594 plants of suspected marijuana and cultivation equipment in the bed of the truck, Altamirano said.

Banks, 49, was booked under $30,000 bail into Sonoma County Jail and was scheduled to appear in Sonoma County Superior Court Wednesday morning.
