Headphones Used As Excuse To Avoid Other People And Skip Workouts, Survey Finds

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - Headphone owners are likely to end their workout early or skip it completely if they forget their earbuds, according to a survey by headphone-makers Sol Republic.

The survey of 1,001 adults found that 40 percent would not even start their exercise routine without being connected to their music. Some 66 percent said they would be less likely to complete their routine.

Among the other interesting findings from the survey were that 45 percent of respondents say they use headphones to avoid interaction with other people; a trend that is particularly common among younger adults. Among those responding, 62 percent said they'd rather give up talking to people than give up music, while 20 percent would forgo a meal each day rather than living without their tunes.
