Hairspray Bottle Behind Suspicious Smelling Bags Aboard SFO Flight To Chicago
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Hazmat teams at San Francisco International Airport determined the unusual odor from luggage aboard a Chicago-bound plane originated from a bottle of hairspray.
Shortly before 6 a.m Wednesday., ramp personnel reported smelling a strange odor coming from two bags aboard Southwest flight 2436. SFO spokesperson Cathy Morrison said fire crews were dispatched to the scene and removed the possibly leaking bags.
One passenger reported the bags were removed from the plane.

Fire crews were re-dispatched to inspect both bags and could not find the source of the smell, Morrison said.
The flight eventually departed from SFO at 7:03 a.m., more than an hour late, according to flight status data on Southwest.com.
