Man Found Dead In Hayward Home After Police Standoff With Armed Woman Inside

HAYWARD (CBS SF) -- Police are investigating a homicide that occurred in Hayward after an armed standoff Friday afternoon.

According to police, officers responded to the 28000 block of Thorup Lane shortly after noon, and found a man dead from an apparent gunshot wound in a garage.

Witnesses told police a woman who lived at the residence was present during the incident.

Police said they were able to make contact with the woman via telephone and after several hours of negotiating the woman surrendered without incident.

Neighbors told KPIX the couple had lived in the home for 30 years and there were no indications of any issues between the husband and wife.

Both the victim and the suspect's names are being withheld at this time, and an investigation is ongoing.
