Hayward School Superintendent Keeps Job Despite Allegations Of Violence
HAYWARD (CBS SF) -- The Hayward School Board voted not to fire the Superintendent after allegations he physically and verbally threatened other school board members.
A packed house gathered at Hayward City Hall to hear the board's decision.
Board Member Dr. Luis Reynoso claims Superintendent Stan Dobbs cursed at him, and chest-bumped him during a closed door meeting two weeks ago.
"I think we need to set an example for safety of our students, for our employees that there is zero tolerance for violence," Reynoso said.
KPIX 5 obtained the letter Dobbs wrote to the board apologizing for his language. The letter doesn't mention physical contact, but does say his behavior stemmed from a medical procedure he had that day.
"The preparation for the procedure left me with little sleep or food, and I left the procedure medicated," the letter reads.
Dobbs spoke briefly at the meeting, assuring the room he will serve Hayward with diligence and dignity.
