Man Accused Of Kidnapping 4-Month Old In Central Valley Arrested

HANFORD, Kings County (AP) — Police in central California say they have located a 4-month-old baby boy who was allegedly kidnapped by a man who had dated his mother.

Hanford Police Capt. Karl Anderson says the baby was found safe Tuesday in Lemoore about 10 miles (16 kilometers) west of Hanford, where the child was abducted Monday.

Anderson says the suspect, identified as 42-year-old Wesley Williams, was taken into custody.

He says Williams had dated the child's mother and that he took the child moments after she told him he could be his father.

Anderson says Williams called police to ask about his parental rights and officers told him to return the baby to his mother. But he did not do so and turned off his phone.

Police found his car Tuesday and arrested him.
