Hit Musical 'Hamilton' Heading To Bay Area

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – Following a blockbuster debut on Broadway, the hit musical on the life of founding father Alexander Hamilton is heading to the Bay Area next year.

"Hamilton" is set to debut at the SHN Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco in March of 2017, as part of a national tour.

Billed as a theatrical "game-changer" on "60 Minutes," the musical tells the story of the Revolutionary War hero and first Treasury secretary through hip-hop and popular music. Created by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the playwright spent six years on the project.

One of the hottest tickets on Broadway, the show has chalked up $57 million in advance ticket sales in its first three months.

Tickets to the San Francisco performances are guaranteed to current SHN members. Single ticket sales will be announced at a later date.
