Hail Storm Turns San Jose Neighborhood Into Winter Wonderland

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- It was a winter wonderland… Bay Area style!

The stormy weather moved through leaving kids in San Jose hail deep enough to sled on.

The streets and hills of East San Jose were white with what looked and felt like snow, but was really hail. There was enough to measure it.

Kids, and some adults, filled the streets to play in the stuff. One group even managed to build an icy snowman from the hail stones.

Paraj Gupta came out to play. He'd never seen anything like it.

"It just kept coming, and kept coming and getting harder, and harder… it was just amazing. The whole ground was covered -- the grass, the green hills are now white," he said. "It's fantastic. I've never seen any storm like this before in this area."

There were no reports the hail did any damage to homes or cars.
