Grinch Thieves Break In, Steal Hand-Knitted Christmas Gifts From Pittsburg Grandma's Home

PITTSBURG (CBS SF) -- Evelyn Arms has been knitting slippers to give to her grandchildren as Christmas gifts, ever since last summer.

All that handiwork was lost, when thieves broke into her Pittsburg home and stole them. All 17 pairs!

Talk about a bunch of grinches. Each pair takes 8 hours to make -- stitch by stitch. All of her handwork was lost.

"I was so mad because I had them all ready for Wednesday," said Arms, who also volunteers every year to sew costumes for Pittsburg Community Theatre.

One granddaughter up in Washington got lucky. Arms had already sent her 5 pairs of slippers before the thieves got them.

As for the other pairs? Arms has a message for the crooks' relatives.

"Watch for knitted slippers!"
