Grieving Roommate Remembers SF Woman Struck, Killed By Robbery Suspects During Police Chase

SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX 5) – As the manhunt continues for the suspects in a wild San Francisco crime spree continues, more details are emerging about the innocent bystander who lost her life during their escape.

Bridget Klecker was struck and killed at Kearny and California Friday night while crossing the street.

The 42-year-old San Francisco native worked in a café at Google. She was likely heading home after having dinner with a friend when the accident happened.

Sam Rosoff, Klecker's roommate said he had a strange feeling something was wrong that night. He still can't believe she is gone.

"It just seems surreal -- it doesn't seem real," he said crying. "I have known people that have died, but I have not known anyone personally who has been killed."

The police chase started near the Fairmont Hotel. Police said they tried to pull over three men suspected in a string of armed robberies, including one Friday night on Nob Hill. The suspects sped off toward downtown.

The 3 men were in a black Toyota Corolla. Police said they tossed a gun from the car near Stockton and California.

After killing Klecker, the car struck another person near Union Square. That person survived.

Rosoff said he'll hold onto his roommate's legacy. She enjoyed the outdoors, worked hard, and was kind.

"Bridget didn't have a mean bone in her body. She was super nice," said Rosoff. "I keep expecting it to be a mistake, and she's going to show up and say,'Oh, someone stole my ID.'"

Meanwhile, police found the stolen Toyota abandoned on Treasure Island. Authorities believe the suspects could be responsible for as many as 9 armed robberies in San Francisco.
