Google Donates $1 Million To Food For Bay Area Families, Largest Single Donation Ever

SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX 5) – To help fight hunger this holiday season, Google made a donation of more than $1.3 million to Food for Bay Area Families using both employee donations and corporate matching.

Google's donation is the largest single amount given to Food for Bay Area Families in the 13 years KPIX 5 has been involved in the program.

Alan Eustace, Google's Senior Vice President of Knowledge, presented the check to Tami Cardenas of Second Harvest Food Bank during KPIX 5 News at 6 p.m. Tuesday night.

You can also participate in Food for Bay Area Families. Stop by any Whole Foods Market and drop healthy non-perishable foods in the bin. Customers also have the option to buy a "pantry stocker" at the register for $10, $5, $1 or any other amount for donation.

On Wednesday, December 10th, Whole Foods Market locations in San Francisco will be participating in a 5% day benefitting Food for Bay Area Families. Whole Foods Market will donate 5% of the day's sales from its San Francisco locations to the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank.

Another option is contributing to your local food back. Click here for details.
