Giants Plan Popup Beer Garden, Shopping Venue Built With Shipping Containers In AT&T Park Lot

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A proposed project which would create a mini "pop-up village" in a parking lot by AT&T Park is scheduled to be considered by the San Francisco Port Commission on Tuesday.

If approved, the project would feature an Anchor Steam beer garden and tap room as well as other food and retail shops and a waterfront view deck.

The San Francisco Giants submitted the plan to convert a portion of the parking lot across the Lefty O'Doul Bridge from the stadium into an 18,000 square foot venue constructed from refurbished shipping containers from the Port of Oakland.

The Giants are calling the project "The Yard" and hope it can be open in March in advance of the their April 13 home opener against the Colorado Rockies.
