Giants Slugger Brandon Belt Promises Homer For 12–Year-Old Cancer Patient, Delivers
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - It appears Giants 1st Baseman Brandon Belt did his best Babe Ruth impression over the weekend, saying he'd hit a home run for a sick child and delivering on that promise.
The San Jose Mercury News reports that Belt, who has been rehabbing a broken thumb in San Jose after a stint on the disabled list - met Lyndsey Dworkin when she threw out the first pitch before Friday night's game. Dworkin, who has undergone 31 radiation treatments and nine rounds of chemotherapy, wore a Belt jersey to the game, and the Giants veteran was inspired to come over and say "hi." Belt told her: "I'm going to hit a home run for you."
He didn't wait long to make good on that promise, connecting in the 1st inning of the 8-3 win over Visalia.

The San Jose Giants were able to get the ball back, and Belt signed it for the inspirational young lady: "To Lyndsey, My Good luck charm."
