Gas Leak Shuts Down El Camino Real In Santa Clara

SANTA CLARA (CBS SF) -- PG&E officials have contained a gas leak that closed off El Camino Real at Monroe Street on Monday afternoon.

The gas line broke around 2:30 p.m., according to fire officials. El Camino Real is currently shut down between Lafayette and Lincoln streets.

Police are currently on scene and the Madison Place apartment complex was under a shelter-in-place order.

Fire officials said at 4:36 p.m. that the one lane is expected to reopen in each direction in about 30 minutes, but residents should avoid the area for the time being.
