Fresno Student's iPhone Stops Bullet During Armed Robbery

FRESNO (CBS/AP) — An iPhone in the pocket of a Central California college student blocked a bullet during an armed robbery near Fresno State.

The Fresno Bee reports Wednesday that Fresno Police Lt. Joe Gomez says officers responded to a 911 call Sunday night at apartments near the campus.

Gomez says detectives located the victim, who told them he had been walking home and nearly reached his front door when a man approached him from behind and pointed a black semi-automatic handgun at him. The suspect grabbed the student's computer bag and fired one shot, which shattered the iPhone in the victim's pants pocket.

The student was not harmed. Police say the shooter remains at large and no arrests have been made.
