Fresno Man Rescues Baby From Burning SUV

FRESNO (KPIX 5 ) -- A man in Fresno didn't think twice when he heard a baby's cries coming from a burning SUV.

The vehicle crashed into a power pole early Friday morning, then burst into flames when the live wires fell on top of it.

The noise awakened Jose Sanchez. He immediately ran over to help.

"I could hear the baby crying," said Sanchez. "The wires were over the SUV, I ducked under those, got in there and got next to the door that was open. The baby was on the ground."

Fortunately the infant wasn't hurt and Sanchez was able to pull her to safety.

Sadly, Sanchez couldn't reach the 2 adults inside the burning SUV.

The coroner is working to identify them.
