Fremont double shooting leaves 1 dead, 1 injured
A double shooting in a Fremont neighborhood Friday evening left one person dead and another person injured, authorities said.
The Fremont Police Department said the shooting happened around 6:45 p.m. on the 39000 block of Overacker Avenue in the city's Cherry-Guardino neighborhood.
Police said officers found two people at the scene who had been shot. One of them was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
The other person died, police said. Further details were not available.
The victim's identity will be released once the next of kin is notified.
Police said it was the city's first homicide of 2025.
