Freeway Fowl: CHP Officer Rescues Baby Geese From I-80

ALBANY (CBS SF) -- A CHP officer in the East Bay on Monday afternoon responded to multiple calls seeking help for a family of geese that ended up on I-80.

The CHP Oakland Twitter account posted a warning shortly before 4 p.m. about some fowl on the freeway near the Buchanan Street exit in Albany.

Witnesses were uncertain about exactly what kind of water birds were walking along the shoulder of the freeway, but CHP Officer J.H. Gordon was able to make a determination once he rescued the baby birds that had been left behind.

Officer Gordon, who was featured in a photo shared on social media holding the fluffy feathered babies, was able to usher the birds out of harm's way.

Gordon was also able to confirm that the birds were geese.

Eventually the baby geese were reunited with their family. The birds were relocated to a more suitable spot where they could enjoy the sunshine.
