Former Warrior Mookie Blaylock Sentenced To 15 Years For Deadly Atlanta Wreck

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - NBA veteran Mookie Blaylock, who starred for the Golden State Warriors as well as Atlanta Hawks and New Jersey Nets, faces jail time in the death of a woman in suburban Atlanta last year.

ESPN reports that Blaylock was sentenced to 15 years for vehicular manslaughter and other charges for a head-on crash in Clayton County in May of 2013 which killed Monica Murphy.

The plea deal calls for the sentence to be reduced to seven years but suspended after three, with an additional eight years of probation.

Prosecutors said that Blaylock was under orders not to drive at the time of the wreck due to recent seizures, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Blaylock played the final three seasons of his career in Oakland, starting 131 games at point guard between 1999 and 2002 for the Warriors.
