Former Hells Angel Leader Gets 10-Year Prison Sentence For Trafficking Meth

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A former leader of a Northern California chapter of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking operation in western New York.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says 64-year-old Richard Mar of Monterey, was sentenced Tuesday for pleading guilty in March to drug conspiracy charges.

Prosecutors say Mar, the president of the Hells Angels chapter in his hometown, supplied large quantities of meth to the upstate New York drug ring from 2002 into mid-2010. Officials say the leader of the local operation was James McAuley Jr., vice president of the Rochester Hells Angels.

McAuley was sentenced in May to 25 years in prison. Six others, including his wife, were also convicted and sentenced to prison time or probation.
