Woman dies after found shot in vehicle near East Oakland school
A woman died after she was found shot in a vehicle near a school in East Oakland on Friday afternoon, police said.
The Oakland Police Department responded to Fontaine Street near Holmes Avenue, located just off Interstate 580, around 12:45 p.m. for reports of a shooting.
What they found was a woman with an apparent gunshot wound. She died at the scene, police said.
The gunfire was heard from a preschool just down the street. The school went on lockdown and parents waited behind caution tape to pick up their children.
The road has since reopened.
There is no word on a suspect. The victim has not been identified.
