Floyd 'Money' Mayweather Banks Over $280K Betting On Warriors
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Floyd "Money" Mayweather made some serious bank betting on the Warriors last week. The retired boxing champion got PAID, making $284,636.36 in separate bets.
First he threw down $170,000 on Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals and made $221,000 when the Warriors won. The Dubs pulled off a 108-101 comeback at OKC after being down 3-1, and forced Game 7 to take the series.
"I bet the Splash for the Cash," said Mayweather in an Instagram post flashing a receipt for his moneyline wager.
Then, in Game 1 against the Cavs, Mayweather bet $70,000 on Golden State during the first half and almost doubled his money.
"I bet $70,000 on the Warriors for the first half and picked up a light $63,636.36 in 24 minutes," he posted on Instagram.
That may be long paper to most folks, but it seems like chump change for Mayweather who bragged about his net worth of $650 million in an earlier post.
Mayweather, a high school drop out, admits his life has been full of ups and downs, but money doesn't seem to be a problem. In 2015, Forbes ranked him number one its list of the world's highest-paid celebs and he's notorious for 'making it rain' at strip clubs, throwing down as much as $100,000 in cash.
The undefeated champ is famous for his insane bets and according to Buzzfeed, made $4.3 million in 2012 alone. It's uncertain how much Mayweather has lost, though. In an interview on Fox Sports, he admits he once kissed a million bucks goodbye on a single bet.
"You can win seven games straight, but then when you lose a million, you're like, 'man,'" he winced.
Nonetheless, those posts of his winning betting slips keep on coming.
Last year, he posted four slips with $350,000 worth of wagers on four different events -- 3 basketball games and a fight.
"The last 4 days have been great," he wrote. "I'm getting paid while watching others entertain and perform. I don't do anything for free. I bet $350,000.00 and walked away with $827,272.73."
