Flight Diverted After Woman Goes Into Labor While Aboard Flight From SFO To Minneapolis

SALT LAKE CITY (CBS SF) — Authorities say a pregnant woman who went into labor aboard a plane was treated at a Salt Lake City hospital after her flight was diverted to Utah.

Allison Perry went into labor Wednesday morning on an airplane heading from San Francisco to Minneapolis.

Doctors gave her the go-ahead to travel with her husband to the Bay Area from their home in Wisconsin since her due date was in March. But on the flight home, she was feeling a little pain when they off from SFO.

"I'm like, 'no I think I'll be just fine. Just a little back pain. I'll have them give me a pillow.' Got into the plane, took off and about thirty minutes later, my water broke," she said.

A pediatrician on board rushed to help her.

The Delta Air Lines flight landed in Salt Lake City about 9:40 a.m. MST and the woman was taken to a local hospital where Karl William Perry entered the world at 4 pounds and 6 ounces.
